Flare Up

Flare Tip Jib Crane

J.Barnsley Cranes are currently designing and manufacturing a very special 4t Jib crane for J.Ray McDermott Eastern Hemisphere on their Chevon Platong Gas II Platform Project.

The jib is special in that it needs to be assembled 50m above the sea in the Gulf of Thailand next to the flare tip which sticks out 40m from the main platform. It will then lift the new flare tips off the support boat and into position. It will then be dis-assembled before the flare tip is put back into use to burn off the gas. This means the jib crane needs to be lightweight and modular allowing it to be put together by hand without the use of lifting tackle or power.
