and hazardous areas worldwide
Who we are
Formed in the early 1800s, J Barnsley Cranes was originally a traditional Black Country engineering foundry making, amongst other things, Jews' Harps. Today, however, thanks to a continual programme of adapting to ever-changing markets, the company is recognised as one of the UK's leading manufacturers of explosion-proof cranes for the petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.
With some 80 per cent of its orders for the design and manufacture of overhead traveling cranes and hoists for the oil and gas industry, J Barnsley Cranes has built a reputation for the quality of its explosion proof equipment for use in Zone 1 or Zone 2 Hazardous Areas. The remaining 20 per cent of its business is for the design and manufacture of cranes for general industrial use including water treatment plant and ship’s cranes for the marine industry.
Part of the secret to JBC’s success has been the decision to concentrate on providing quality, personal service; a commitment to deadlines and budgets; and a willingness to go anywhere in the world to meet existing and potential new customers.
To meet rising demand for its products, J Barnsley Cranes recently acquired a new workshop adjacent to its current premises in Brierley Hill, adding a further 7,500 sq/ft of assembly space. The new workshop means the company now has more than 20,000 sq/ft of fabrication space on one site which will enable it both to increase production and the range of cranes and hoists it offers.
In addition, the company provides a full service and maintenance programme for customers to ensure their equipment continues to operate to maximum capacity and safety.
Overseas, J Barnsley Crane’s Middle East office in Abu Dubai continues to go from strength to strength and is enabling the company to capitalize on increasing demand for work from this part of the world.
