J Barnsley Cranes has celebrated its most successful trading period ever with an $1.36 million contract to supply a total of 17 explosion-proof cranes for the Tengiz oil and gas project in Kazakhstan, part of the former Soviet Union.

One of the biggest overhead cranes to be built in the West Midlands has been commissioned by Bechtel at the Central Electricity Generating Board's new power plant at Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Black Country crane manufacturer J Barnsley Cranes of Brierley Hill has won a rollover contract to service, refurbish or replace all the cranes, hoists and jibs it supplied for the Thames Barrier when the barrier was first constructed over 30 years ago.
